PARADISE

Paradise is an empty place, a verb - an ever undoing or unbecoming. It is the promise of an end the moment you arrive, so that arrival itself becomes a kind of paradox. Every island sold as Eden was first a home, then a harbor, then a hotel. 
Paradise, here, is a construction site disguised as a dream. It is scaffolding wearing a lei. The mundane machinery of it all - ethnicity, self righteousness, timeshare pitches at sunset - like a generator humming beneath the sound of a pool, next to the ocean.
Paradise requires a kind of amnesia, and amnesia has to be built, maintained, staffed. A place still undoing itself, a promise still receding, so that wanting can go on forever.
