iʻa

In it’s second iteration, i’a brings together 15 individuals in an effort to understand ourselves through our varied relationships to i’a. Often translated simply as fish, as a word i’a can more expansively contain all life in the ocean. Less about the animals themselves, this show explores how one might interact with the source. Through origin stories, family relationships, hard work, material practice, conservation, consumption, and just being out there fishing, these artists offer a picture of multidirectional, multidimensional and multitransactional efforts to understand that which holds and sustains us.
